Always seek the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional with any questions about a medical condition or before beginning a new cold-exposure routine.

Who should take particular care

Cold water immersion can be dangerous for people with heart conditions, high or unmanaged blood pressure, circulatory disorders, respiratory conditions, or during pregnancy, among others. If any of these apply to you, do not begin without clearance from your doctor.

Stop conditions

Get out of the water and seek help if you experience chest pain, difficulty breathing, dizziness, numbness that doesn't resolve on rewarming, confusion, or an irregular heartbeat. Never plunge alone when you are new, and never combine cold immersion with alcohol or after taking substances that affect your judgment or circulation.

No guaranteed outcomes

We do not claim that cold exposure treats, cures, or prevents any medical condition, and we avoid exaggerated recovery or health claims. Individual responses vary.

No medical reviewer claim
