How We Review
This page explains exactly how PlungeWise prepares its cold plunge comparisons, so you can judge our work for yourself. We aim to be transparent about what we know, how we know it, and what we don't.
What we evaluate
When a product has verifiable information, we consider it across a consistent set of criteria:
- Cooling performance and published minimum temperature
- Temperature range and whether a chiller is included, plus its power
- Filtration and sanitation system
- Setup complexity and installation requirements
- Ongoing maintenance and water-change frequency
- Tub dimensions, ergonomics, and suitability for taller users
- Indoor / outdoor suitability
- Noise (for chiller units)
- Warranty, returns, and shipping terms
- Estimated ongoing operating cost
- Price category (Budget / Mid-range / Premium)
- Quality of the available sources
Where our information comes from
We clearly distinguish between different types of evidence, and we try to label them where it matters:
- Manufacturer-published specifications — taken from the brand's current official product page.
- Independent third-party testing — results published by established review outlets.
- Verified owner feedback — consistent themes from real buyers.
- PlungeWise editorial interpretation — our own reasoning about who a product suits, clearly presented as opinion.
- First-hand PlungeWise testing — only when it genuinely exists, and always labeled as such (none at present).
Verification and dates
Product specifications and prices change frequently. We cross-check details against official product pages and record a "last verified" date on comparison pages. Because Amazon pricing changes constantly and may only be displayed through Amazon's approved tools, we show price categories rather than static numbers, and we direct you to check the current price on the retailer's own site.
No pay-to-rank
We do not accept payment in exchange for a ranking, a positive verdict, or placement. Affiliate commissions are how the site is funded, but they never determine order or opinion. When a product has a real weakness, we say so.
